Minister to news organizations: Reinstate dismissed employees, or else
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry demanded that news organizations reinstate workers who were recently laid off. He warned that the government would withhold advertisement payments if this issue is not addressed.

ISLAMABAD – Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has called on the news organizations to reinstate sacked employees, if not the government would withhold payments for advertisements to the media houses.

He said this while talking to journalists who protested in front of the Parliament House on Thursday over layoffs of workers and wage delays.

The minister said that any future payments to the organizations would be linked to journalists’ jobs and timely payment of salaries.

He pointed out that the government had cleared the bill of news organizations for adverts released by the PML-N government against the PTI’s sit-in.

He dismissed the notion the government had stopped giving advertisement to television channels and newspapers.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC), and Media Workers Organization (MWO) organized the protest.
