ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Khairpur Saturday ordered police to arrest Geo TV owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman (pictured) and co-accused in a blasphemy case and present them before it on January 16.
The court expressed displeasure over continuous absence of Mir Shakil and others in the case registered against them.
Police requested the court to grant a month’s time to arrest the accused and present them before the court.
The ATC judge Kausar Ali Bukhari gave police a deadline of January 16 to arrest and present all the accused before the court along with complete documentary record.
The other accused in the case include Shaista Lodhi, Ansar Abbasi, Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, actress Veena Malik and her husband Asad Bashir Khattak.
Earlier, Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended implementation on 26 years imprisonment sentence awarded to the accused by an Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit-Baltistan which has also announced jail term for Veena Malik, her husband Asad and Shaista Lodhi.
