Journos honored for reporting on disasters
Journalists Munir Ahmed and Zahid Gishkori received awards for their impactful disaster reporting. The ceremony, held by NDMA and the National Press Club, honored multiple reporters for their dedication during the 2010-2011 floods.

ISLAMABAD: Senior scribe Munir Ahmed and the promising Zahid Gishkori were among journalists presented awards by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the National Press Club for reporting on disasters.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira gave away the awards at the club to journalists for their work in 2010-2011.

Amin Ahmed, representing Dawn also bagged the award as did Tahir Khalil (Daily Jang), Zahid Majeed (APP), Essa Khokhar (Dunya TV), Zarghon Shah (Geo TV), Ibrahim Surangi (KTN), Saqib Mehdi (Such TV), Mushtaq Minhas (Aaj TV) and Javed Khahloro (PTV).

Munir, got the award for his stories in Dateline Islamabad (now defunct) based on his visit to the flood-affected areas and also filing a research report on disasters and international response.

Meanwhile Zahid of The Express Tribune reported on how the flood hit the poor in the Sindh province really hard.

All other journalists also excelled in reporting on disasters for their newspapers, news agencies and television channels.
