Journalists protest Cyber Crime Bill, stage token walkout from Senate

ISLAMABAD -Journalists on Wednesday staged a token walkout from Senate to protest the Cyber Crimes Bill 2016.
Chief Whip of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Mushahidullah Khan, who went after them, later informed the House that the media persons were protesting against not taking them into confidence on the bill. Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani asked Mushahidullah to arrange a meeting of the media representatives with the relevant quarters to address their concerns over the bill.
A Senate panel Tuesday passed the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill, 2016 with certain amendments. The bill, aiming to prevent unauthorized acts and offenses related to information systems, will now be presented in the Senate for consideration. - APP
