ISLAMABAD—The National Assembly has banned all forms of video recording within Parliament House. According to the Assembly Secretariat, this decision came following complaints from legislators about journalists conducting interviews inside the premises and sharing the footage on social media without prior consent.
The National Assembly Secretariat has requested media personnel comply with the new policy, emphasizing that violations may result in the confiscation of mobile phones, revoking of press gallery access cards, and restricted entry to the Parliament House.
A Dawn report suggests that members of the ruling party were uncomfortable with journalists' direct and sometimes challenging questions.
The instructions to ban video recording were communicated to the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA), which has a designated room within the National Assembly. The PRA's website is also hosted on the official National Assembly website.
