ISLAMABAD—Two armed robbers deprived senior journalist Ishtiaq Rao of Rs800,000 in cash and pay orders of Rs3000000 at gunpoint in Sector I-8/1 on Wednesday.
Rao, who works for the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), had arrived at the parking lot of his residential flat after withdrawing money from a nearby bank when the incident occurred.
The I-9 Police Station has registered the First Information Report (FIR).
Rao told JournalismPakistan.com that he went to the Standard Chartered Bank in I-8 Markaz to withdraw money. "When I reached the parking lot of my flat, two armed men on a motorbike intercepted him and fled after snatching the money."
He said that he had withdrawn the money to make some payments.
Although police have obtained the CCTV footage, no arrests have been made.
