Journalist Asad Ali granted one-week bail
Asad Ali Toor, a journalist, has been granted a one-week protective bail by the Islamabad High Court. This decision comes amid a defamation case registered against him involving the military.

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad High Court on Tuesday granted protective bail to journalist Asad Ali Toor in a case registered against him for defaming the military.

In a tweet, Toor said: “Update: CJ #Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah granted me one week transit/protective bail. I was represented by two young and bright brains @mhaiderimtiaz and @umergilani_lums #Pakistan.”

Rawalpindi Police have registered the case against Toor.

In their tweets, journalists Matiullah Jan, Abbas Nasir, Murtaza Solangi, and Nasir Iqbal welcomed bail for Toor.
