Geo TV's Special Correspondent Nadeem Alvi dies
Nadeem Alvi, a senior journalist and special correspondent for Geo TV, has died at the age of [age]. He was a well-respected figure in the journalism community.

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Nadeem Ahmed Alvi, a special correspondent at Geo TV, passed away Sunday (July 26) at Al Shifa Hospital, Islamabad.

He suffered from liver failure and was brought to Islamabad from Lahore for liver transplant on the advice of doctors. However, the operation could not be carried out as he was in coma and his condition deteriorated over time.

Alvi had a distinguished professional career spanning decades in which he also served as investigative reporter Daily Jang and bureau chief of Awaam in Lahore. He had hundreds of exclusive news to his credit and was ranked among one of the most connected journalists in the country.

There are many contemporary journalists who would not carry or break exclusive news without confirming facts with him. On occasions, he would double check facts for them but refrain from releasing that news under his name.

Alvi was a very kind-hearted person often surrounded by people from different professional and socio-economic backgrounds. He was a friend of friends and the center of attraction whenever in the company of his friends, colleagues or fellow journalists. He would never miss any opportunity to help people out in times of need, regardless of whether he knew them or not.

Leading journalists, office-bearers of journalist bodies, friends and colleagues of the deceased have termed his death an irreparable loss to the entire journalist community and appealed to all for prayers for the departed soul.

Alvi’s Namaz-e-Janaza was to be offered at Mian Meer Sahib Graveyard after Isha prayers Sunday. He is survived by his wife and two sons - Taimur Alvi and Sami Alvi.
