ISLAMABAD—Azhar Abbas, Managing Director of Geo News said on Friday that regulator PEMRA was apparently issuing instructions to cable operators to put the channel on latter numbers.
He said in a tweet that “this started immediately after MOI (Minister of Information) Dr Firdous presser.”
Geo’s Director News Rana Jawad reported the news on live television and said PEMRA had been directed to either shut down Geo or change its number on the cable network.
The National Accountability Bureau arrested Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman, the owner of Jang-Geo Group on Wednesday in a 34-year-old property transaction.
Geo has suffered the change of numbers on several occasions in the past.
