ISLAMABAD—Attorney General Khalid Jawed Khan has rejected Geo TV’s reporting of his remarks during the sou moto case on COVID-19 before the Supreme Court regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan as the first honest premier of Pakistan.
In his clarification, he said: “What was said by the Attorney General for Pakistan in response to a court observation was that ‘PM Imran Khan is an honest man and the government is making sincere efforts to combat the pandemic.’”
The statement said this by no means was meant to denigrate many great and honest prime ministers from Shaheed-e-Milat Liaquat Ali Khan onwards. “As elected leaders of the people, all Prime Ministers are entitled to esteem and respect.”
In a tweet, journalist Murtaza Solgani termed it an “excellent rebuttal by the Attorney General.”
