Apply for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship 2025
The International Women's Media Foundation is accepting applications for the Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship 2025. This fellowship supports journalists dedicated to human rights and social justice.

The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) has announced that applications for the prestigious Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship 2025 are now open. Women and nonbinary journalists specializing in human rights and social justice reporting are encouraged to apply. Final decisions will be communicated to applicants by the end of June 2025.

Established in memory of Elizabeth Neuffer, an award-winning correspondent for The Boston Globe who lost her life while reporting in Iraq in 2003, the fellowship offers a unique blend of academic and professional development. Created in collaboration with Neuffer’s family and friends, the program aims to uphold her legacy by supporting journalists dedicated to human rights and social justice reporting.

The selected fellow will engage in research and coursework at the MIT Center for International Studies and gain hands-on journalism experience through internships at The Boston Globe and The New York Times. This flexible program structure allows the fellow to pursue academic research while refining their reporting skills. Previous fellows have had the opportunity to publish work under their bylines across various media platforms.

Eligible candidates must have a minimum of three years of professional journalism experience in print, broadcast, or digital media, either as staff journalists or freelancers. While the fellowship is open to journalists of all nationalities, applicants who are non-native English speakers must demonstrate strong written and verbal English proficiency to benefit from the program fully.

Application deadline: April 20, 2025
