NPC announces three-day mourning over C. R. Shamsi's death
The National Press Club has declared a three-day mourning period for veteran journalist C. R. Shamsi who passed away due to cardiac arrest. His contributions to journalism and press freedom in Pakistan were celebrated in a heartfelt tribute by NPC.

ISLAMABAD—National Press Club (NPC) has announced three-day mourning over the demise of veteran journalist Chaudhry Rehmatullah Shamsi.

He was one of the most senior members of the National Press Club and former secretary-general of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).

In a press statement issued on Saturday, Secretary NPC Anwar Raza paid rich tributes to the life-long struggle and sacrifices rendered by C. R. Shamsi for press freedom in the country.

"The selfless contributions of legendary journalist C. R. Shamsi would never be forgotten," he stated.

The official flag of NPC will fly at half-mast during the period of mourning.

C.R. Shamsi died of cardiac arrest on Friday. He was laid to rest at Kurri Road Graveyard, Rawalpindi. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers.
