Stringer Foundation grants support courageous journalists
The Stringer Foundation is offering grants for journalists committed to courageous reporting. This initiative seeks to support those facing threats in their pursuit of truth.

The Stringer Foundation is calling on journalists worldwide to apply for grants and prizes that support courageous reporting. At a time when truth is under threat and independent journalism faces increasing challenges, the foundation aims to back journalists working in isolation or with limited institutional support.

Many reporters risk their safety to document human rights abuses, corruption, and other violations of power. The foundation emphasizes the global importance of such work and its capacity to inspire journalists to unite in the service of society.

Applicants are encouraged to detail the impact of their reporting, whether nationally, regionally, or globally, and how their work amplifies the voices of silenced, threatened, or underrepresented communities. The application also asks journalists to describe the threats they have faced, including imprisonment, death threats, surveillance, torture, or attacks on family members, and to explain how their work challenges powerful actors or institutions.

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2025.
