The Knight-Bagehot Fellowship, one of the world’s most comprehensive programs for business journalism, invites applications for its 2025 cohort. Hosted by Columbia Journalism School in collaboration with Columbia Business School, the fellowship is a career-changing opportunity for journalists eager to master business, economics, and financial reporting.
Fellows spend two semesters immersed in a rigorous academic and professional environment. They take core MBA courses like corporate finance, economics, and accounting while exploring advanced journalism classes on investigative techniques, book writing, and data reporting.
Beyond academics, fellows benefit from weekly off-the-record seminars and dinners with industry leaders, top journalists, and entrepreneurs. The program provides a platform to step back from daily newsroom pressures and strategize for future career challenges.
Each fellow receives:
Full tuition coverage
A monthly stipend of $7,800
Health insurance
Access to subsidized Columbia housing
With a network of over 400 alumni, the fellowship offers lifelong connections with media professionals across the globe.
The program, which is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and named after 19th-century Economist editor Walter Bagehot, also receives support from various charitable foundations and corporate sponsors.
If you’re ready to enhance your journalism career, don’t miss this chance to join the ranks of the most accomplished business journalists in the world.
Application deadline: January 31, 2025.
