ILO trains Pakistani journalists

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani journalists - Shahzada Irfan Ahmed (The News on Sunday-The News) and Nida Fatima Zaidi (PTV) - have successfully completed a training on "Reporting the Future of Work" in Bangkok, Thailand from November 21 to November 23, 2017.

The training was organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and attended by journalists and media professionals from the ASEAN region. The participants were handpicked by the organization for their exceptional work on labor rights and the world of work over the last couple of years.

Media professionals from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mongolia, North Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar Philippines, Taimoor Leste and other regional countries also participated.

The main objective of the workshop was to position the ILO as the leading authority on Future of Work issues so that it becomes the ‘go-to’ source of information and expertise on the subject.

The ILO experts shared their observations on how the dynamics of work will change in future, which new jobs will emerge and which will phase out. Besides, the importance of balance between work and social life, decent work and governance was highlighted.

It is also expected that the initiative will promote ILO messaging on the FoW and connect journalists with ILO experts, stimulate discussion among media opinion formers and provide in-depth story ideas, resources and coverage advice.
