Sindh High Court overturns PEMRA ban on BOL show, says channel head

The Sindh High Court has overturned PEMRA's ban on BOL News' program Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga. The court mandated that no hindrances be placed on BOL's transmission.

ISLAMABAD – BOL News Chief Executive Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh Friday announced the Sindh High Court had suspended PEMRA notification banning their program Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga.

Addressing staff at the BOL Headquarters in Karachi and others in Islamabad and Lahore through video link, Shaikh said they had not received any notification from PEMRA Thursday.

He said they learnt about the ban on the program and its host Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain through social media. Besides, PEMRA violated an earlier Sindh High Court order that says the regulator must inform the court before taking any action against BOL.

“It was for this reason we went ahead and aired the program Thursday,” he told staff.

The court also ordered no hindrances be created in transmission of BOL.

PEMRA Friday served a show cause notice to BOL News for defying the ban Thursday, hours after it became effective.
