The Pulitzer Center is inviting freelance and staff journalists worldwide to apply for reporting grants focused on critical ocean and fisheries issues. The initiative supports high-impact stories on illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, climate impacts on marine life, biodiversity loss, and the blue economy.
Applicants are expected to submit a 250-word project pitch, a basic budget, and a clear distribution plan. Proposals with creative engagement strategies and commitments from publishing outlets are strongly encouraged.
Topics of interest include deep-sea mining, marine protected areas, aquaculture, marine energy, ocean science, habitat restoration, and transparency in fisheries governance. Journalists from the Global South and collaborative teams are especially encouraged to apply.
The Pulitzer Center provides rolling deadlines and typically responds within 1–2 weeks of submission. For guidelines and application details, visit the Pulitzer Center website or contact: reacheditorial@pulitzercenter.org.
