Mashriq employee shot dead in Mardan

ISLAMABAD: A 28-year-old employee of Urdu daily Mashriq was shot dead outside his office on Friday, Dawn reported Saturday.


Ihsan Ali, worked as an assistant to the bureau chief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Mardan district.


The paper said three men on a motorcycle arrived when Ali was standing in front of his office. One of them fired three shots to Ali's head. The assailants then fled the scene firing shots in the air.


Police said it appeared to be a case of targeted killing.


Ali was the 6th media worker to be killed this year after Muhammad Younas (accountant, Online International News Network); Haroon Ahmad (non-linear editor, Express News); Muhammad Ashraf (security guard, Express News); Waqas Aziz (technician, Express News) and Muhammad Khalid, driver (Express News).
