Freedom Network welcomes information minister's statement
Freedom Network applauds Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry's announcement about a journalist protection bill. Executive Director Iqbal Khattak emphasized the need for prompt action and stakeholder involvement.

ISLAMABAD – Media watchdog Freedom Network on Tuesday welcomed Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry’s statement on plans to table a bill on protection of journalists.

Iqbal Khattak (pictured), Executive Director of the network hoped the minister does so soon. "We take the minister's statement seriously and hope he will move sooner than later to table the bill.”

Khattak urged the PTI government to consult all stakeholders before the Parliament took a decision. He offered technical assistance and inputs to the minister.

“Freedom Network has since long been advocating for special law on journalists protection,” Khattak pointed out.
