PFUJ condemns layoffs at Hum News
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has condemned the layoffs of seven employees at Hum News. Union leaders demand an immediate withdrawal of the termination letters and plan protests.

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the retrenchment of seven video journalists from Hum News.

In a joint statement, President PFUJ Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi termed the decision illogical and unjustified. They demanded immediate withdrawal of termination letters of the seven employees.

The union leaders threatened to protest in front of Hum News offices across the country.

“It is strange that a senior journalist who heads Hum News is taking anti- journalists actions by terminating the services of poor staffers,” the statement said.
