Information Minister Pervez Rashid has committed to raising concerns regarding the dismissal of BBC reporters. He emphasized the need for job security for journalists in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid Friday assured journalists the issue of sacked BBC reporters would be taken up with the relevant authorities.

Speaking on the floor of the House he said: “We will discuss the issue with concerned department and regulatory authority and would also convey them the feelings and sentiments of the journalist community.”

The minister said sacking of nine reporters by BBC Pakistan without any reason is totally unjustified.

“The whole journalist community in Pakistan is in sorrow, grief and anger over the action of the BBC-Pakistan management.”
