ISLAMABAD – Arshad Rahim Lone, the Resident Editor of Daily Dunya in Islamabad, has reportedly been dismissed from his position after the paper published a misleading photograph on its front page.
The image, which appeared in the Sunday edition, showed a large Palestinian rally but was captioned and presented as if it were a joint Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)–Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) gathering in Karachi.
According to newsroom insiders, the error — whether deliberate or accidental — drew swift criticism, raising fresh concerns about editorial oversight and media ethics in Pakistani journalism. The management is now expected to appoint a new editor in the coming days.
Lone was the fourth person to hold the Islamabad Resident Editor position since Daily Dunya launched in 2012. His predecessors include Amir Mir, Rauf Klasra, and Masud Malik.
