ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen on Sunday shot dead a journalist in Balochistan, police said.
Zafarullah Jatak was sleeping when the gunmen stormed into his house in the Jaffarabad district early morning and fired at him.
Jatak was a correspondent of the Urdu-language daily "Intekhab." Police said they are investigating the murder.
Pakistan has been the most dangerous country in the world to work in for journalists, with 14 journalists killed in 2014, the International Federation of Journalists said in January.
Freedom Network expressed indignation over the murder in Balochistan province where impunity of crimes against media and journalists has taken deep roots in the last many years.
"Our thoughts and condolence go out to the bereaved family and demand that facts leading to the murder of journalist Zafarullah Jatak must be known," Freedom Network, Pakistan's first media watchdog organization said in a press freedom alert.
