Geo Kahani, three others get PEMRA notices for airing Indian content
PEMRA has taken action against several channels for violating a court order. The affected channels must respond to show-cause notices regarding Indian dramas.

ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA has issued show-cause notices to Filmazia, Urdu-1, Geo Kahani and HTV for airing Indian drama serials.

According to a PEMRA media release, the channels aired the dramas in violation of an Islamabad High Court order of May 9, 2018 that banned advertisements, dramas and films of foreign origin, particularly India.

The channels aired the plays titled Naagin 2, Kulfi Kumar Bajay Vala, Kum Kum Baghya, and Chandar Kanta.

The erring channels are required to respond to the show-cause notices in writing and their officials to appear for a personal hearing on May 25 at the PEMRA Headquarters.
