Journalists protest police violence

PESHAWAR: Members of the Video Journalists Association have protested against the thrashing of a colleague by traffic policemen.

Wahid Khan, a cameraman working for KTN was beaten up in front of Jinnah Park. The protest, outside the Peshawar Press Club was led by association’s President InamRehman.

Abdul Hakim Mehmand, Vice President of Khyber Union of Journalists and NasirHussain, Secretary General of the Peshawar Press Club were also among the protesters.

The journalists chanted slogans against the traffic police while the leaders said such incidents go to show the government’s claims of promoting freedom of press were mere hollow claims.

The protesters called for strict action against the cops involved in the incident.
