Roze Television has been issued a show cause notice by PEMRA for broadcasting vulgar language during a live program. The channel must respond by June 2.Summary
ISLAMABAD - Roze Television has been served a show cause notice and given until June 2 to submit a reply for airing what the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) said was indecent and vulgar language.
The program in question was 'Kabar Roze Ke' telecast on May 11 and hosted by Waheed Hussain (pictured). Shakeel Awan and Engr. Iftikhar Chaudhary were the guests on the show. PEMRA said in the notice the exchange of indecent and vulgar language went on for considerable time and the program host made no effort to stop the guests or to turn off their mikes.
The Authority said airing of such vulgar exchange in a live program went to show the channel did not have time-delay systems in place. It said that a supervisory committee for exercising editorial control at the channel either did not exist or was oblivious to its duties.
