Kidnapped tribal journalist freed
Amirzada Wasal, a senior journalist, was kidnapped in Jamrud town but has been safely released. His neighbor was freed earlier the same day.

ISLAMABAD: A senior journalist, kidnapped on Friday in Jamrud town in Khyber tribal region while going home from work has been freed.

 

Reports said Amirzada Wasal (pictured), a member of Jamrud Press Club was abducted at gunpoint along with one of his neighbors in the Kadaykhel Khor area.

 

However, Amir was not beaten up or tortured by the kidnappers. He was set free Saturday evening in the Godar area. His neighbor identified as Gul Syed was released earlier the same day.

 

The kidnappers fired shots at the Amir's vehicle but no one was injured, according to reports. The motive behind the kidnapping was not known.
