Join our WhatsApp channelISLAMABAD—The mother of journalist in exile Ahmad Noorani broke down in tears at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday after the hearing on her two missing sons was adjourned until after Eid.
Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi appeared before Justice Inam Amin Minhas and sought two more weeks to recover Noorani's brothers, who were allegedly abducted from their home in Islamabad between the night of March 18 and 19.
Despite forming a special investigation team, conducting geofencing, and contacting prison authorities nationwide, IG Rizvi admitted that no progress had been made in locating the missing brothers.
When the judge asked how much time was needed for their recovery, the IG requested two weeks—prompting an emotional outburst from Noorani’s mother, Amina Bashir.
Her lawyer, Imaan Zainab Mazari, expressed frustration over the delay. In a post on X, she wrote, “I have no answers for Ahmad Noorani’s mother, who broke down in court today, asking who would be responsible if anything happens to her sons (Haider & Ali). Despite our pleas, the court adjourned the hearing till Eid.”
Justice Minhas directed the Defense Secretary to submit a response by the next hearing and adjourned the case until after Eid.
