ISPR rejects BBC Urdu report

ISLAMABAD—The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army's media wing, has rejected a BBC Urdu story detailing events inside the PM House before Imran Khan's ouster as prime minister, calling it "baseless and a bunch of falsehoods."

The propaganda report does not refer to a trustworthy, verifiable, or relevant source, ISPR said.

"Today's report by the British broadcasting agency is a sham and a bunch of falsehoods. The propaganda piece omitted any reputable, confirmed, or relevant source," the ISPR said in a short statement.

According to the military's media arm, this story violates fundamental journalistic standards, and there is "no veracity to false news."

"Clearly, the story is part of a coordinated misinformation effort," the ISPR noted. Additionally, it indicated that the topic was being discussed with senior broadcasting corporate authorities.

Before Saturday night's vote of no-confidence against him, Imran Khan denied claims that he had fired Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

According to sources, Imran Khan said in a chat with prominent television presenters that he had no such intention.

There was no discussion of firing the army commander and no such action was contemplated. "I will carry out my responsibilities in accordance with the law and the Constitution," the Prime Minister reportedly said.
