Gharidah Farooqi has officially joined Express News after leaving Samaa TV. She will serve as a senior anchor and special correspondent, starting her new role soon.

ISLAMABAD: Gharidah Farooqi, popular newscaster and reporter, has quit Samaa TV and joined Express News as senior anchor current affairs/special correspondent.

Gharidah refuted reports she wanted to host a talk show at Samaa and that the management had refused to give her a permanent slot.

"Samaa management did not refuse me the program. In fact they offered me a permanent program and did not let me leave," she told JournalismPakistan.com.

However, she said she found the Express News offer "more viable and promising."

"I am thankful to Samaa management for all their support in two years," she said.

Gharidah is likely to start hosting her program in the next couple of weeks.

Previously, she remained associated with Geo as a newscaster and quit the channel in September 2012 to join Samaa.

In recent months, she impressed everyone with her extensive coverage of political gatherings and dharnas staged by PTI and PAT.
