FIR registered against Hamid Mir
An FIR has been registered against Hamid Mir concerning the 2010 kidnapping and murder of Khalid Khawaja. The case, initiated by Khawaja's widow, links Mir to the crime.

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Police have registered an FIR against senior Geo News journalist Hamid Mir for the alleged 2010 kidnapping of Khalid Khawaja who was later found murdered.

Dawn reported Sunday that the case was registered at the Ramna Police Station following an Islamabad High Court order that heard a petition filed by Khawaja’s widow, Shamama Malik.

In her complaint submitted with the police, Shamama alleged Mir and Usman Punjabi along with their “hooligans” had kidnapped her husband. He was then taken to North Waziristan and his bullet-riddled body was found in Karam Kot, the complainant said.

The paper reported that Mir had differences with Khawaja over the Lal Masjid operation. It quoted Mir as saying the case was politically motivated and aimed at blackmailing him. He said the court issued orders to the police without hearing him.
