Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer Zahid Malik passes away

ISLAMABAD – Zahid Malik, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer passed away following a prolonged illness. He was 78.
The deceased was also an author, analyst and a retired bureaucrat. He authored about a dozen books. Dawn reported that for his contributions to journalism and promoting Pakistan’s ideology, he was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2011. He was patron-in-chief of the Nazaria-e-Pakistan Council, chairman of the International Seerat Centre and the Foundation for Coexistence of Civilizations.
He was also the founder-chairman of the think tank '101 Friends of China', a non-governmental organization aimed at improving Pak-China ties.
Malik founded Pakistan Observer in November 1988. The paper is now led by his sons Faisal Zahid Malik, Gauhar Zahid Malik and Omar Malik, and daughter Sadia Zahid Malik.
