Urdu 1 gets PEMRA show-cause notice for airing Indian dramas
Urdu 1 has received a show-cause notice from PEMRA for broadcasting five Indian dramas. This action violates a 2016 ban on Indian content on Pakistani television.

ISLAMABAD – For airing five Indian dramas, electronic media regulator PEMRA issued Urdu 1 a show-cause notice.

The channel is required to respond to the notice within five days after it screened the dramas – Saath Nibhana Saathia, Ye Hain Mohabatain, Nam Kiran, Ye Rishta Kia Kehlata Hai and Aishq Baz.

A PEMRA release said Urdu 1 telecast the dramas on July 5. It said this was a violation of its decision of October 19, 2016, that banned airing of Indian content on private television channels and also informed all of them about it.
