PESHAWAR – Journalists and media workers staged a protest in front of the Peshawar Press Club against job cuts by news organizations.
The protesters pointed out that despite the orders of the chief justice, the media houses had continued to sack employees without assigning any reason, and not serving proper notices.
The journalists demanded the chief justice to take notice of the large-scale retrenchments and order reinstatement of workers.
Meanwhile, a similar protest also took place in Islamabad where journalists gathered outside the offices of Express Media Group on Monday. They chanted slogans against the management for laying-off employees.
