IHC sets aside fine on Channel 24 as PTI counsel withdraws complaint
The Islamabad High Court ruled against a fine imposed on Channel 24 for airing incorrect information about Imran Khan. The PTI's legal counsel withdrew the complaint against all channels except Dunya News.

ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has set aside a PEMRA decision to impose a fine of Rs500,000 on Channel 24 for airing fake news about the third marriage of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.

The court did this after PTI’s counsel expressed his intention to withdraw his complaint against all TV channels except Dunya News.

The report aired on July 12, 2016, alleged that Khan was in a relationship with a woman. PEMRA’s Council of Complaints took up the matter after the PTI filed a complaint. The council recommended a fine of Rs500,000 which was later approved by the Authority.
