LAHORE – Following death threats to Zia Shahid, Chief Editor of Daily Khabrain, the Civil Lines Police have registered a case against a banned outfit.
Talal Ishtiaq, the newspaper’s chief reporter filed a complaint with the police stating his boss and his family were receiving death threats from Jamaat ul Ahrar.
The complainant said the first message received on Shahid’s cell phone on January 26 said he would be killed and to be prepared to meet his fate. Similar threatening messages were sent on January 28 and 29.
Ishtiaq sought security for the chief editor and legal action against the perpetrators.
It was not clear why Shahid was being threatened.
