WMC workshop for women journalists

KARACHI: The Women Media Center (WMC) is to organize a workshop for women journalists in Lahore on "Election Reporting" next week. The workshop is one of a series of trainings conducted for female journalists across the country. The last such event was in Hyderabad in November.

The Lahore event will be based on practical work in different electronic media fields like handling the camera professionally; the technicalities of script and voiceovers etc.

The participants will also be sent on field assignments and after seven days of the workshop will able to make packages or news stories for any television channel.

Similar training workshops will also be conducted for female media sciences students of Bahauddin Zakria University, Multan later in the month.

The Women Media Center was founded in 2005 by Fauzia Shaheen as a non-profit organization working for the promotion of women journalists.  She is the center’s general secretary and executive director.

WMC seeks gender equality in media by providing training to mass communication students and journalists to help them find better jobs. So far more than 2000 women have been trained.

Those interested in attending the Lahore workshop can send their resumes to womenmediacenter@gmail.com.
