The Journalist Panel successfully retained leadership in the National Press Club elections held in Islamabad. Shakeel Anjum and Imran Yaqoob Dhillon were re-elected to their respective positions, continuing their terms.Summary
ISLAMABAD - Journalist Panel again swept the elections of National Press Club Thursday with Shakeel Anjum (center) being re-elected President for a second term.
Anjum polled 1403 votes in brushing aside his rival Abid Khursheed who got 519.
Imran Yaqoob Dhillon was also re-elected as the secretary general. He had 1036 votes as he beat Ayaz Akbar (561).
Asif Ali Bhatti (1131), Ibrahim Kumbhar (806) and Naveed Akbar Ch (878) were elected vice presidents while the women’s seat for this position was won by Myra Azam (844). Her opponent Ayesha Khan polled 569 votes.
Iqbal Malik (1088), Mian Shahid Mehmood (1037) and Abid Abbasi (1127) won the slots of joint secretary with Shakila Jalil (1031) claiming the women’s seat.
In a close fight, M. Ishaq Chaudhry (850) edged his opponent to get re-elected as finance secretary.
Members of the governing body elected were: Javed Baloch (1069), M. Nadeem Ch. (1027), Nokhaiz Sahi (1012), Rana Zahid Hussain (902), Sheraz Ali Gardezi (1004), Waseem Sajjad (1007), Ahmed Nawaz Khan (1116), Bashir Ch. (1107), Chengaiz Ch. (1106), Farrukh Ijaz (919), Intizar Hussain Butt (836), Izhar-Ul-Haq Niazi (998), Khan Gulzar Hussain (987), Raja Bashir Usmani (995), Rasheed Malik (989), Farah Naz (993) and Mamoona Arif (1033).
