Code of ethics for media drafted
The Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has developed a code of ethics for media. This move aims to address violations of broadcasting standards and improve compliance among media houses in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting was informed this week that a code of ethics fore media has been prepared in consultation with stakeholders.


The committee's meeting was held in Islamabad with Kamil Ali Agha in the chair.

 

Secretary Information Dr. Nazir Saeed briefed the committee about the code of conduct and said it will be presented before the committee.

 

The meeting noted that certain media outlets were violating PEMRA rules regarding broadcast of foreign content. It said the authority should fully exercise its powers and take strict action against media houses violating rules.

 

Director General Radio Pakistan, Samina Parvez and Managing Directors of Pakistan Television (PTV) and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) attended the meeting. - Online
