Yousaf Baig Mirza has been appointed as special assistant to the prime minister on media affairs, effective from December 7. He resigned from his position as CEO of Public News Television to avoid any conflict of interest.

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government has appointed leading broadcaster Yousaf Baig Mirza as a special assistant to the prime minister on media affairs.

Baig who was the CEO of Public News Television has now resigned from that position to avoid conflict of interest.

His appointment as the special assistant came into effect from December 7, according to a notification issued by Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed, a joint secretary to the cabinet.

The notification said Baig would serve in an honorary capacity.

YBM, as he is popularly known, is a former managing director of Pakistan Television. He has extensive experience in media management having headed several private media groups.
