Join our WhatsApp channelISLAMABAD – Office-bearers of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists Saturday condemned violence against 7 News journalist Usman Mughal at the Sadiqabad Police Station in Rawalpindi.
A RIUJ press release did not elaborate on the violence and if the journalist was hurt.
RIUJ President Mubarak Zeb Khan constituted a committee headed by Sagheer Chaudhry to probe the matter.
Meanwhile, a fact-finding committee probing the recent attack on Waqt News anchor Matiullah Jan has sought more time to submit its report. The committee was given another week to wrap up the probe.
Journalist Shabbir Siham, against whom a case has been registered under terrorism and defamation charges, was also discussed.
Mubarak Zeb termed this action of the Gilgit-Baltistan government an attack on the freedom of the press and urged the authorities to stop victimizing Siham. He called for dropping all charges against him.
