ISLAMABAD: Waheed Hussain, host of prime time program Top Story on Pakistan Television (PTV) is reported to have resigned following a row with the channel’s Managing Director Yousaf Baig Mirza. A JournalismPakistan.com source says Mirza cut down the number of Hussain’s current affairs program from the usual three a week to only one and did so without consulting him. This upset Hussain and reportedly led to an exchange of hot words between the two. Hussain, a senior anchor who had been hosting this program since 2008, had re-joined PTV from Waqt TV where he was director news. Our source says things were not going too well for Hussain especially after the recent death of Director Current Affairs, Ziaur Rehman Amjad. Hussain it is said was keen to take over but his hopes were dashed when the management appointed Mohsin Gorya as the director current affairs. It was not immediately known if Hussain’s resignation had been accepted.
