The Democrats stand tall in KPC polls

KARACHI - The Democrats’ panel made a clean sweep in the annual elections of Karachi Press Club (KPC) with Fazil Jamili (pictured, left) being re-elected president for a second term and Allauddin Khanzada (pictured, right) becoming the secretary.
Competing against the Progressive Panel, all candidates representing The Democrats achieved big wins. Jamili polled 487 votes against his rival Nizamuddin Siddiqui who got 231 votes while Khanzada secured 538 votes.
Others elected were Sajjad Abbasi (vice president) 456 votes; Hanif Akbar (treasurer) 468 votes; Rizwan Bhatti (joint secretary) 500 votes.
The Democrats also claimed all seats on the governing body. Shams Keerio, Hina Mah Gul, Tariq Abul Hasan, Nawab Qureshi, Muhammad Ahmed Khan, Siddiqui Chaudhry and Manzoor Chandio were the winners.
KPC said 775 members took part in the polls.
