KARACHI: Geo Television's Associate Producer Syed Salik Ali Jaffery was killed in back to back bomb blasts that rocked the metropolis Friday, newspaper reports said.

The News reported that Salik succumbed to his injuries in hospital. He had joined the channel in 2008 and was on the Geo FIR team.

The blasts in Ancholi area left seven people dead and 28 others injured. Several shops and vehicles were damaged.

Newspapers said the bombs were planted on motorbikes and went off one after the other. Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat Khan said the "attacks were carried out on sectarian grounds."

The blasts occurred some distance away from an Imambargah.
