ISLAMABAD—Former cricketer and sports analyst Shoaib Akhtar has refused to appear before the inquiry committee, constituted by the federal minister for information and broadcasting, to investigate his on-air spat with Dr. Nauman Niaz on state-run PTV Sports.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Akhtar said: "Whatever happened is out there for everyone to see."
He said that there was no need for him to appear physically or record statements as the inquiry committee could easily decide after watching the videos of the altercation between the two.
In response to multiple clips currently circulating on social media, he also posted a video message to clarify his point of view.
