ISLAMABAD: It seems as if electronic media have become extension of political parties with only those channels popular among the public that exaggerate things.
Veteran journalist Mahmood Shaam said this Wednesday during an event, “An Evening with Mahmood Shaam,” organized by National Press Club at its premises in Islamabad.
Media achieved freedom in Pakistan through struggle of many generations, especially working journalists, and journalists associated with electronic media should work responsibly and honestly, he said.
With the promotion of technology, the newsrooms have become paperless but it has also negatively impacted journalism in terms of content and language, he said.
“Freedom of expression has really benefitted anchorpersons and owners of media houses as they have been earning millions and billions.”
PFUJ President Afzal Butt and NPC President Shaharyar Khan also spoke on the occasion.
