COLOMBO: A senior Sri Lankan journalist was found murdered at her home Sunday, media reports said.

Mel Gunasekara, 46, a former journalist for the AFP had injuries caused by a sharp weapon. She was reportedly alone.

She founded the Lanka Business Online, a Sri Lankan business news portal and previously worked as an assistant editor of the Sunday Times newspaper.

A special police team is investigating the murder.
