Unidentified assailants Tuesday shot dead senior journalist Gauri Lankesh at her home in Bengaluru’s Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
The Indian Express reported that she was the editor of weekly magazine Lankesh Patrike, and a staunch critic of Hindutva politics.
She succumbed to multiple bullet wounds, the paper said.
Lankesh, in her 50s, was the daughter of famous poet-turned-journalist P Lankesh.
Her death was condemned by journalists, friends, and the Karnataka chief minister.
