Saleem Baig is new PEMRA chairman
Saleem Baig has been appointed chairman of PEMRA. His appointment follows the resignation of Absar Alam after a court ruling deemed his previous position illegal.

ISLAMABAD - Principal Information Officer Saleem Baig has been appointed the chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday approved the appointment which comes after the previous chairman Absar Alam quit in December 2017 after the Lahore High Court declared his appointment illegal.

A committee headed by Sartaj Aziz short-listed three candidates after interviewing 62 applicants with Baig’s name on top.
