Sadia Kamal clarifies her position regarding NPC violence
Sadia Kamal has clarified her stance on the violence at the National Press Club, calling for a high-level inquiry into the incident. She recounts the escalating situation during their scheduled protest and calls for dialogue to resolve the election results dispute.

ISLAMABAD—Sadia Kamal, a candidate for secretary from the Azad Panel, has clarified her position regarding the recent violence at National Press Club, demanding a high-level inquiry.

"The unfortunate incident that took place at the Press Club on Thursday evening was not unexpected," she wrote on her Facebook wall, emphasizing that "...we reached the premises of the Press Club for a peaceful protest as per our schedule and started chanting slogans.

"Instead of showing restraint, the Journalist Panel walked out of the hall, stood in front of us, and started chanting in response to our protest."

"Some members of the Journalist Panel surrounded me and used abusive language, which can be seen in the video clips," she wrote.

"Meanwhile, an incident took place between Waheed Dogar and Anwar Raza on which some non-journalists called by the Journalist Panel severely injured some of the protesters."

According to Kamal, the patience of the seniors in her group did not allow the situation to worsen.

"I strongly oppose creating such an atmosphere and demand immediate dialogue to resolve the election results dispute so that the club atmosphere could be normalized."

Kamal was seen chanting slogans when the protest demonstration turned ugly, and Abdul Waheed Dogar slapped the newly-elected President NPC Anwar Raza.
